3DIF FACE-TO-FACE 002 Wednesday, March 03 @ 17:26:34 CST by admin (6 reads) | Members,
It is critical that we maximize attendance at this meeting for several reasons:
1. ECMA (European Computer
Manufacturer's Association) will be there to inform us on the their process
for ISO certification...we need to make a credible showing so they can visibly
determine the level of commitment from the community to this 3D project.
2. We will review the specification and run time library development to date.
From this meeting we will then move toward the alpha program with our sights set
on SIGGRAPH for a technical press release. Your input is critical.
3. Sharpe will be attending as well to present on the 3D Forum that has been
organized in Asia. We will discuss potential synergies in working with them.
4. Update on marketing plans and programs.
5. Membership agreements should be ready for distribution and discussion.

Meeting Notes: Great Meeting 001, Thank you Friday, October 10 @ 12:10:10 CDT by admin (42 reads) | Fellow 3DIF Members,
I wanted to thank each of you for attending the inaugural meeting of the 3D
Industry Forum. I feel this was the most successful meeting to date and allowed
us to move forward once again on setting the foundation for the forum. In
parallel, we took the next steps in the development of the 3DIF format for
downstream applications. I found the group engaged, energetic and very open to
sharing ideas and suggestions to build on the conversations that took place over
course of the meeting. Initial feedback indicates that many of you concurred
with that assessment.
A couple of key results of the session were as follows:

Interesting Post to CAD-3D for Games Friday, February 21 @ 15:24:49 CST by admin (10 reads) | jaw writes "Tracy McSheery, spending way too much time on motion capture and virtual reality, and not enough time in this reality over the last 15 + years.
After spending too much time in too many industries, here is my 10 (binary) cents.
" Note: While you're welcome to comment on Tracy's message at this site, to reply directly you'll need to go the CAD-3D for Games Forum

What data is required when repurposing CAD data? Sunday, November 10 @ 21:18:34 CST by admin (9 reads) | Charles writes "Friends:
As many of you have pointed out, we need to identify target markets and identify their functional needs in the CWG format (any customers, end-users out there?). We need to find several clear use scenarios representative of major domains that use 3D, then identify the overlaps and a strategy to deal with non-overlaps.
